Since 2013, EuropeanIssuers, Federation of European Securities Exchanges (FESE) and the European Commissionn are jointly organising the European Small and Mid-Cap Awards. These two associations represent together the European securities exchanges and the companies listed on them. 

The objective of the Awards is to promote best practices and highlight the best European small and mid-sized companies that have gained access to capital markets via an Initial Public Offering (IPO). They showcase the diversity of European markets, and aim to promote stock listings, in particular targeting SMEs and growth companies. These companies are critical to accomplishing the EU’s goals of job creation, competitiveness and growth. The benefits of the Awards are to network with the European listed companies and promote our activities. Since 2020 the SME Awards has been hosted during the same week and location as the European SME Week organised by the European Commission. 

Each year, small and mid-cap companies are nominated for four separate categories which include International Star, Rising Star, Star of Innovation and Star of 2022. An independent jury, set up by the European Commission, selects a short list of three companies per category. The winners are announced during the Awards Ceremony.
